How long have you played netball?

I played a little at primary and secondary school but netball was never a big sport within the Carluke/Clydesdale area and so I never progressed in the sport. I played lots of sports, including netball at university and within young farmers, however, living in a rural area made it difficult for me to play netball at club level whilst balancing other commitments. In the past 4 years, I have grown Bounce Back to Netball in the Clydesdale area, establishing Carluke and Biggar BBN for adults.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not on the court?

When I'm not on the court, I am at work as an Active Schools Co-ordinator, taking fitness and dance classes or I am at home on the farm keeping busy with my dog Dougal.

Why do you think more people should play netball?

I'd encourage more people to get involved in netball because it's brilliant for fitness, challenging yourself and having fun with like-minded people. I can't wait to grow our netball family in Biggar.

Maigan Reid - Assistant Coach

How long have you played Netball?

I have played netball for around 11 years. I played throughout primary school and high school and into my first 2 years of university. Around a year ago, I joined Bounce Back to Netball in Carluke and Biggar

What do you do enjoy doing when you're not on the court?

I'm a primary school teacher and keen baker! I also enjoy reading and crime documentaries.

Why do you think more people should play netball?

Netball is a fun, sociable sport. I think people over estimate the level you need to be at for playing netball but the rules are easy to remember and quick to grasp a hold of. Netball has so many different positions that you can try. It's not all about scoring goals! Once you realise that you will find a position on the court that you enjoy playing.

Ruth Elliot - Assistant Coach

How long have you played netball?

I played netball at primary school, however, stopped in high school as there sadly wasn't a team. When I was 16, I started playing with my local young farmers club and from there, I joined Bounce Back to Netball at Carluke and Biggar.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not on the court?

I am a member of Biggar Young Farmers Club, I enjoy music and playing rugby for Biggar RFC Ladies XV.

Why do you think more people should play netball?

Netball is a great way to keep fit due to its high intensity. There is a position for every ability and I've made a lot of friends through netball, therefore, I'd say it's a very sociable sport. Recently, there has been a lot of development, particularly in Scottish Netball and so it's great to be part a sport with continues to grow.
